From Character to Plot: An On Q workshop with James Rushbrooke
In this session you’ll explore how plot can emerge from characters
Before James was a playwright he was a performer in the UK’s longest running improvised soap opera. Telling stories is letting plot and characters pull in different directions until a shape emerges. Being a good writer is doing all of this in your head without being sectioned or accidentally over-caffeinating.
In this session you’ll explore how plot can emerge from characters (or vice versa) and how understanding the psychology of stories and audiences can take your improv work to the next level as both an actor/director/or writer.
This session will take place in the Playhouse dressing room and will involve the use of costumes and props.

Running time: 90-minute workshop followed by a performance
Tickets: £10 (£5 concession) includes tickets for improv double-bill show
