Learn how to give a clear ‘No’ during scenes when you’re invited to play in territory where you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Who is this course best suited to: This class is designed for people with some improv experience. Beginners are welcome but advised that the concepts explored in this workshop build on an understanding of improv fundamentals. What to expect from the course: ‘Yes! And ____’ is a philosophy fundamental to great improv! But!!!! We players shouldn’t say ‘Yes’, when we really need to give a firm ‘No’. Learn how to keep playing a decent improv scene when someone encroaches on your boundaries, and when to simply edit the scene from within. It takes courage to say ‘No', but Blanche will give you tools to use so that you can have the agency to look after yourself and keep playing when you see someone coming in hot to cross your line. This is a surprisingly fun and empowering workshop that helps improvisers of all levels maintain their own boundaries and learn how to be acutely tuned into the other’s. To be very clear: Things like triggers and boundaries will be discussed during this course. Please remember this is an improv course designed to help you play in a way that is fun and easy for you. It is not a therapy session. There will also be unsavoury examples mentioned during the course, Blanche does not condone the kind of behaviour or play used in the examples.
